Attorney Angela D. Whitley has been working tirelessly in the field of criminal defense since she began her career. She has successfully defended clients in both federal and state criminal cases, including felonies and misdemeanors. As an experienced attorney, she brings years of knowledge, which allows her to provide the best defense for her clients.
Ms. Whitley began her higher education at Virginia Tech. In 1988, she graduated with honors from Virginia Commonwealth University (Magna Cum Laude) with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Anthropology. During her time at the university, she participated in many extracurricular activities such as the Student Government Association, Delta Gamma Sorority, and Kappa Sigma Fraternity. As an avid scholar, she was invited to join the Phi Kappa Phi National Honor Society, and won the Outstanding Student Award.
After her undergraduate studies, Ms. Whitley attended the T.C. Williams School of Law at the University of Richmond., where she received her J.D. in 1991. During this time, she was an Honor Court Member, Law Student Advisor, Moot Court Finalist, and a Negotiation Competition Finalist. She received the American Jurisprudence Book Award for Professional Responsibility, and First Prize in the Client Counseling Competition. In addition, Ms. Whitley was a law clerk for several high-quality criminal defense law firms.
Ms. Whitley first began her professional law career at a criminal defense and litigation firm. Ms. Whitley focused on criminal trial and appellate work, as well as death penalty appeals, employment law, personal injury, and civil rights.
She then went on to become the in-house counsel for a company that operated four restaurants. Ms. Whitley was responsible for advising her clients on pertinent issues and negotiating agreements in the areas of franchise, trademark, entertainment, commercial, and employment law. She also served as a representative before political, economic, and governmental groups.
After her time as in-house counsel, Ms. Whitley returned to her criminal defense roots. She began her own practice, where she focused on federal and state criminal defense cases.
